I’m Peter Parker, an event and tournament organizer for gaming and esports communities currently based in the DC metro area.
I began attending George Mason University in 2017, getting involved with the university’s esports club as the brand and media manager for the Overwatch team. In 2019 I participated in the planning committee for the inaugural GAMEmason, an on-campus gaming convention featuring guest speakers, esports tournaments, and other attractions. I served on the committee for subsequent GAMEmason events through 2022, focusing on the organization and integration of tournaments at the convention.
Later in 2019, I became President of the esports club, and during my time I spearheaded the proposal and transition process to see GMU Esports become a full-fledged program under the Student Involvement department. I worked on bolstering the newfound program’s presence through online and Discord-based efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After leaving as President in Spring 2021, I shifted my focus to organizing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and later, Rivals of Aether tournaments and helping the local community. My efforts contributed to a revitalization of the Maryland/Virginia Rivals of Aether competitive scene, which is now one of the most active regional scenes in the country. and I currently am co-Head TO of Hitfall, a Rivals of Aether major tournament hosted at Xanadu Games in Laurel, Maryland.
In May 2023 I graduated from GMU with a BFA in Computer Game Design. I’ve familiarized myself with the software and techniques of the game development process while working on multiple different projects over the course of my academic career, including most recently the grid-based tactics game Eras Rising. Eras Rising originally started as a group endeavor for the BFA capstone. Our group is now fleshing out the game and planning on releasing it fully on Steam and itch.io.
